Here's a short bio.

Linsey Painter loves to write stories that explore joy and courage in the face of life’s challenges.

She and her husband live in Far North Queensland, Australia with their three rambunctious boys.

Linsey grew up in Indonesia and has since lived and worked in four different countries, most of them islands.

Hopping on an aeroplane and ending up in an entirely new place fuels Linsey’s love of writing fantasy stories set in exotic locations.
This bio's a wee bit longer and in first person.

Life rarely turns out the way we expect and sometimes we need to be brave and find out how to love and trust again.

Through my stories, I hope to show that joy and beauty are everywhere, even when life is difficult.

While growing up overseas, I went to boarding school. Because of this, I have a rather muddled accent, love pecan pie, and breathe a sigh of relief whenever there's a moment of absolute solitude.

Something you might notice about me, if you follow my story on social media, or happen to bump into me randomly down the street, is that sometimes I have hair and sometimes I don't.
Alopecia is an autoimmune condition that affects my hair follicles, causing my hair to fall out and not regrow. This means that hot sweaty Cairns holds minimal stress when, with a flick of my wrist, my hair comes off, giving instant relief. However, not having hair isn't always easy, so having a wig not only gives this introvert a break from curious stares and questions, but is also lots of fun just for a change.

My picture book, We’ll Still be a Family is about transition and moving overseas.
My short story, To Free a Mermaid appears in A Glimmer of Uncommon Fairy Tales anthology.
My Mechanical Magic short story features in the anthology Stepping Sideways: Stories of Steampunk and Dystopia.
